About this event

The Hungaroring has featured continuously on the F1 calendar for 40 years and has only been reconfigured twice. Whilst the cars may become less complex to handle, the circuit more than makes up for this. The Hungaroring is characterised by a unique and, at times, seemingly never-ending sequence of diverse corners – almost like a miniature Nordschleife.

Races at the Hungaroring are as much a test of precision as they are of patience. Both pay off. Those who manage their tyres correctly will succeed – but it’s also possible to outwit conservative approaches with an aggressive strategy, as the 1998 race on the then-mid-aged circuit design impressively demonstrated.

The car, the Renault R25, is undoubtedly an icon of the 2000s. Fast, loud and agile. Fernando Alonso thrilled the crowds in Abu Dhabi in 2018 with a guest appearance in his first world championship-winning car. No DRS. No battery management. No changing engine modes. Just drive and perform, racing as fast as possible through the Hungaroring’s maze of corners. Accelerate, brake, steer and enjoy. Who will find the key to success at the latest version of the Hungaroring? On 7 February 2027, we’ll find out in Race 3 of F1 Series 27.
