About this event

We all know that the Nürburgring GP circuit is legendary, and not just since the Legends Race on 19 September 2026. The circuit is the same as for the Legends Race: the 1980s variant of the Nürburgring GP circuit. It does not include the AMG Arena, but does feature the Castrol S.

In 1984, this circuit was inaugurated with a legendary race featuring the Mercedes C190, and the real F1 made guest appearances on this very layout in 1985 and from 1995 to 2001. Many thrilling races took place here, from Schumacher’s comeback against Alesi in 1995, to Jacques Villeneuve’s maiden victory over Häkkinen in 1996, who beat Schumacher using Schumacher’s own tactics in 1998, right through to the weather-hit race of 1999 featuring Johnny Herbert’s first victory and Schumacher’s rain-soaked triumph in 2000, and finally the brothers’ duel in 2001.

The car to be used in this race epitomises a particularly impressive and wild era of F1: the 1980s, with turbocharged engines delivering power outputs well in excess of 1,000 PS, yet fragile and extremely thirsty during the race. With this car and the experience gained from four previous decades of F1, we are sure to be in for a legendary race on 7 March 2027 to mark the season finale of the F1 Series 27!
